In line with the government lifting all restrictions on numbers of individuals or households mixing indoors and outdoors, it will now be possible to book our Wensleydale Lodge for it’s maximum capacity of 8 people.
We will continue to offer a contactless check in process and continue to ask you to strip your beds and leave the windows open on departure. You can find out more about out checking in process here.
We are open for tours of the park if you’re looking for a new holiday home on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, Forest of Bowland and the Lake District. We do ask that you let us know in advance that you’ll be calling by as we’re a small team and often out working on the park. Update: 12th April 2021
In line with step 2 of the governments re-opening plan, our pods and lodges are available for single households to enjoy staycations on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales.
From 21st June onwards, households are able to mix indoors so family and group gatherings can resume.
Update: 18th December 2020 North Yorkshire remains in Tier 2 and we are open for overnight stays to people living in tier 1 or tier 2 areas. Our office will be closed during the festive period but you are welcome to contact our team on hello@wenningdale.co.uk. Please note: Following the latest announcement on Thursday 17th December, we are not accepting new bookings from Tier 3 areas.
It was announced on Monday 23rd November that following the lifting of the lockdown on Wednesday 2nd December, England will return to a 3 tier system.
High Bentham, North Yorkshire is in Tier 2. Therefore we are allowed to open and welcome guests for overnight stays but you must not mix households indoors, even if you are from a tier 1 area. Therefore we are only able to welcome guests from single households or 1 support bubbble at this time from tier 1 and 2 areas.
- Travel:
- If you live in a tier 1 area you may travel to a tier 2 area and should follow the rules for that area while you are there.
- If you live in a tier 2 area, you may travel to a tier 1 area and must continue to follow tier 2 rules when you travel to a tier 1 area.
- If you live in tier 1 or 2, you should avoid travel to or overnight stays in tier 3 areas other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities.
- If you live in a tier 3 area, you can continue to travel to venues or amenities which are open but should aim to reduce the number of journeys you make where possible. You should avoid travelling to other parts of the UK, including for overnight stays other than where necessary, such as for work, education, youth services, to receive medical treatment, or because of caring responsibilities.
- Social contact:
- People in tier 1 will be able to gather in groups of up to 6 (or larger if from a single household) indoors or outdoors.
- People in tier 2 will be able to gather in groups of up to 6 outdoors but must only socialise within their own household/support bubble indoors.
- People in tier 3 must only socialise within their own household/support bubble indoors and in most outdoor areas, though they are able to meet in outdoor public spaces, including parks, gardens, and outdoor heritage sites in groups of up to 6.
- Bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants:
- In tiers 1 and 2, the 10pm closing time for hospitality will be changed to last orders at 10pm with venues closing at 11pm to allow the safer dispersal of customers.
- In tier 2, hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals.

Update: 18th September As local restrictions are introduced in areas around the North West and North East of England, we ask our customers to please ensure they are aware of whether they are impacted by these tighter restrictions.

These restrictions do not prevent you from travelling but they do prevent you from mixing with other households in your house or gardens. This includes within your holiday home as this is your own private space.
Our immediate area is not currently impacted by these additional restrictions. Please can we remind our guests that they are not to travel to us if they are self-isolating or showing symptoms of COVID-19. Update: 10th September 2020. This information is taken from the government website. From Monday 14 September, limits on the number of people you can see socially are changing. When meeting friends and family you do not live with you must not meet in a group of more than 6, indoors or outdoors. From 14 September – when the new rules apply – it will be against the law to meet people you do not live with in a group larger than 6 (unless you are meeting as a household or support bubble). The police will have the powers to enforce these legal limits, including to issue fines (fixed penalty notice) of £100, doubling for further breaches up to a maximum of £3,200. There will be exceptions where groups can be larger than 6 people, including:
- where everyone lives together or is in the same support bubble, or to continue existing arrangements where children do not live in the same household as both their parents
- for work, and voluntary or charitable services
- for education, training, or registered childcare (including wraparound care)
- fulfilling legal obligations such as attending court or jury service
- providing emergency assistance, or providing support to a vulnerable person
- for you or someone else to avoid illness, injury or harm
- participate in children’s playgroups
- wedding and civil partnership ceremonies and receptions, or for other religious life-cycle ceremonies – where up to 30 people will be able to attend
- funerals – where up to 30 people will be able to attend
- organised indoor and outdoor sports, physical activity and exercise classes (see the list of recreational team sports, outdoor sport and exercise allowed under the gyms and leisure centre guidance
- youth groups or activities
- elite sporting competition or training
- protests and political activities organised in compliance with COVID-19 secure guidance and subject to strict risk assessments
People can still go on holiday in England, the distance traveled will not be restricted but they should not go on holiday with people outside their household (including bubble) in a group larger than 6 people. If these new legal requirements affect your booking then please contact us on 015242 62455 to discuss your options. It is currently not possible to book the Wensleydale lodge online for more than 6 people due to the above restrictions. Localised restrictions have been introduced in areas across the North West of England. These restrictions state that if you live in one of the affected areas, in order to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, you should not:
- meet people you do not live with inside a private home or garden, except where you have formed a support bubble (or for other limited exemptions to be specified in law)
- visit someone else’s home or garden even if they live outside of the affected areas
Your holiday lodge classes as your private space so if you live in a restricted area, you cannot invite people to visit you at your holiday lodge, even for a day visit. If you were planning on travelling with friends, it will no longer be permitted for you to share lodge space unless you are already part of each others support bubble. Full details can be found here. Face Coverings must be worn in reception at all times. From Saturday 8th August it will be a legal requirement.
Update: 25th June 2020 (Edited on 3rd July) Wenningdale Escapes will re-open from Saturday 4th July for holiday lodge owners and holiday makers wishing to enjoy a break in one of our rental lodges or glamping pods. You can book your stay online here. We will be updating our cleaning practices and implementing a contactless check in procedure to keep our guests and staff as safe as possible. You can find full details of our checking in procedure here. All of our accommodation is self contained and there are no shared facilities so the restrictions are minimal. Keeping you safe – All customers will be asked to provide contact details of people outside of the household of the booking name to help us reduce the risk of a local outbreak of coronavirus and stay open. We ask that if your local area goes into localised lockdown that you do not visit us to protect our staff and our local community. Update: 5th June 2020 Lodge Sales: If the COVID pandemic has made you re-address a few things or propelled you to look for your perfect home-from-home and you would like to come and have a look at what we have to offer, then we’re ready and waiting for you. We are now allowed to deliver sales tours of our park and can safely allow you to browse our selection of show lodges. We just ask that if you would like to do this, you book a tour with us first to ensure that we can carry out our pre-tour procedure ahead of your visit.
Rentals: In line with the government’s re-opening pathway we are planning to begin welcoming guests back to Wenningdale Escapes from Monday 6th July* From Monday 8th June it will be possible to book a stay in one of our lovely lodges or posh pods online for arrivals after Monday 6th July. If you have received a credit note for a cancelled stay earlier in the year then please contact us on 015242 62455 or email hello@wenningdale.co.uk to arrange your stay. *If you would like to book a week’s break in one of our lodges, we are open from Saturday 4th July. Bookings will have to be made by telephone: 015242 62455. Last Updated: 23rd March 2020 Wenningdale Escapes, Bentham Golf Course and 1922 Bar & Kitchen are now all closed as per government guidelines and lock down requirements. We have been in touch will all guests due to stay with us in April and have issued credit notes for these stays. We will address future bookings (May onwards) when we know how long the restrictions will remain in place for. Here at Wenningdale Escapes and Bentham Golf Course it remains business as usual, though we are mindful and aware of the ever-changing guidance relating to Coronavirus and its continuing spread. We have reviewed our procedures to ensure we are maintaining our usually high standards throughout the facilities buildings. 1922 Bar & Kitchen is no longer open and will remain closed for the forseeable future. Any pre-booked breakfasts will be refunded. For now, we would like to reassure our customers that we will remain open. Access to the fresh air and a chance to escape daily life is paramount to your health and well-being during these unprecedented times. However, if you consider yourself to be vulnerable or a member of your party is, please consider whether this is a sensible time to be coming on holiday.
Guest cooperation: We do ask that in all cases, if you are showing signs of symptoms, please refrain from using the facilities for the safety and consideration of other guests. We ask that all guests, visitors and owners follow these simple snippets of advice from the government and a few requests of our own: • Wash your hands regularly. We’ve provided some inspirational posters in all our wash areas to make the handwashing process a little bit more tuneful. • Maintain good hygiene practices such as using tissues when you cough or sneeze and dispose safely of this tissue. • Maintain a sensible distance from other guests and staff members and avoid contact such as handshakes. • Please pay by card where possible. We are trying to minimise our need to handle cash. Glamping Pod and Holiday Lodge rental customer: If you wish to cancel your visit, a credit note for the deposit amount will be offered and we ask that cancellations are made no later than the day before your anticipated arrival. Credit notes will have a 12-month validity period on them. We are no longer able to offer refund to safeguard staff at Wenningdale Leisure Ltd and ensure job security for them during this time of unprecedented pressure. If you are required to self-isolate as you are showing signs of symptoms, then we do ask that you go home if you are well enough to do so. If you are not, please let us know by telephone (015242 62455) and avoid contact with staff members or other customers. We ask that guests stay at home where they have better access to their health care facilities and family for support. In any case, please inform staff if you have concerns that you are showing symptoms so that we can ensure any areas that you have accessed are suitably treated.
Holiday lodge owners: If you are self-isolating in your holiday lodge to avoid the virus but have no symptoms, please let us know. If you are self-isolating in your lodge as you are showing signs of symptoms, then we do ask that you go home if you are well enough to do so. If you are not, please let staff in reception know by telephone (015242 61272) and avoid contact with staff members or other customers. We would prefer that guests stay at home where they have better access to their health care facilities and family for support. We ask that you refrain from using any of the public access spaces (e.g golf shop and bar) if you are self-isolating. If you require any assistance from staff, please contact us by phoning 015242 62455 and not coming in in person. We are not changing our policy on supermarket food deliveries so they will still not be allowed on park. As a result, please consider carefully whether you are suitably prepared for a potentially extended stay within your holiday home. In light of the loo roll shortage, there may be a temptation to use wet wipes or alternatives, please be reminded that our sewage system cannot breakdown these and this may lead to blockages. Do not flush any wipes – even ones that suggest they are flushable!
Golf Course Users: We respectfully ask that you consider the following thing when using the golf course and its facilities • Wash your hands regularly and thoroughly • Please don’t share equipment. • If you don’t need to touch it, then don’t (let’s leave the pin in the hole for now!). • Book your tee times online so we know you’re playing but you don’t have to come in the shop – equally let us know if you don’t turn up. • Membership payments can be paid by BACS or card over the phone. • We are trying to reduce cash handling so where possible, please pay by card and don’t be offended if you staff won’t touch your card. we’re just trying to minimise contact. • If you feel unwell or have been in contact with someone who feels unwell, please don’t visit us. • Call us with questions – whilst we would obviously prefer to see you in person and have a chat, if you don’t need to come in then we are just at the other end of the phone. We are encouraging you to still use the course for your physical and mental wellbeing during this period of madness and uncertainty but please just be mindful of those who you share the facilities with. Chris will still be contactable in the golf shop and by all means, pop in to see him but just stay sensible and mindful of our customer demographic. Staff are being kept informed of any changes and encouraged to maintain our usual robust cleaning schedule.
