Discover the Caves

Here are some must-visit tourist caves just a short journey from High Bentham:

1.Ingleborough Cave

Located near the charming village of Clapham, Ingleborough Cave is a family-friendly destination that offers self-guided tours through its awe-inspiring limestone formations. Marvel at the stalactites, stalagmites, and ancient fossils as you wander through this enchanting  landscape. You can also enjoy a walk along their nature trail to get to the cave. After the visit, pop into the Sawmill café for some refreshments afterwards. View the walk here.

2.White Scar Cave

Just a short drive from High Bentham, White Scar Cave near Ingleton is the longest show cave in Britain. On one of their guided tours you can explore its winding passages, underground waterfalls, and the impressive Battlefield Cavern, which is large enough to house a double-decker bus! Once you’ve explored the cave, take a moment outside to appreciate the stunning views across the Yorkshire Dales and out towards Morecambe Bay.

3.Victoria & Jubilee Cave

Located above Settle, as part of Attamire Scar, this is a scenic location both inside and outside the caves.  The walk up to the caves from Settle is really family friendly so these are great ones for all ages to explore. 4.Stump Cross Caverns

A little further afield, Stump Cross Caverns near Pateley Bridge is a fascinating site with a rich history. Discovered in the 19th century, these caves are home to stunning calcite formations and prehistoric remains. The visitor centre and café make it a great spot for a full day outing.
