We have put together some ideas to help you keep your spending down and enjoy a short break on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. This suggested weekend itinerary offers a mix of nature, exercise and relaxation, all while keeping costs low with free or low-cost activities.
Day 1:
Picnic at the Riverside: Pack a lunch and head to the nearby River Wenning for a peaceful picnic. Enjoy the serene atmosphere and enjoy the relaxing sounds of nature at peace.
You can check in from 3 pm with instructions you’ll receive by text, so you can soon pop into in your pod and get acquainted with your surroundings.
Explore Bentham Heritage Trail: Take a stroll along Bentham Heritage Trail. This self-guided walk showcases the area’s history and landmarks. You can choose a 2-mile, 5-mile or 9-mile loop.
Evening: Sunset Watching at Big Stone: Drive a short distance to climb the ancient steps hewn into the ‘The Great Stone of Fourstones’ on Burnmoor. Known locally as Big Stone, It offers a breath-taking panorama, especially on a clear day, with stunning sunset views over the Yorkshire Dales and Lakeland Fells. Use your pod’s microwave to heat up a delicious convenience meal from Country Harvest, Spar or the Co-op nearby.
Day 2:
Morning – Breakfast at the Pod: Start your day with a cosy breakfast at your glamping pod. Enjoy the tranquillity of the surroundings whilst you sip your morning brew with a croissant or your favourite breakfast treats you may have brought with you.
Mid-Morning – Visit Ingleton Waterfalls Trail: While the main trail has an entrance fee, you can explore the village of Ingleton and enjoy views of the falls from a distance without entering the paid area. However, the entry fee is money well spent for a spectacular 4-mile stroll.
Lunchtime – Lunch on the walk: Pop some sandwiches in your bag before you leave for the walk and enjoy them mid-trail or on a river-side bench in Ingleton to refuel after your walk.
Afternoon – Driving range: Pop into Bentham Golf Course and borrow some clubs to hit a basket of balls on the driving range. There’s a low cost involved in purchasing a bucket of balls, but club hire is free, and you don’t need to adhere to any dress code on the range. No experience necessary, you can just get into the swing!
Evening: Treat yourselves to something to eat in the 1922 Bar & Kitchen or take advantage of the BBQ pagoda near Tee 10 to pop some sausages and burgers on to cook while you enjoy soaking up the scenery. Stargazing: end your day with a cosy campfire at your glamping pod. Toast marshmallows, share stories, and marvel at the starry night sky free from city light pollution.
Day 3:
Morning:
Farewell Breakfast: Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your glamping pod, savouring your last moments enjoying the backdrop of Ingleborough, one of the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
Pack and Check-Out: Get ready to depart, but if time allows, take one last walk around the area to soak in the atmosphere. Feel free to leave your car in your car park and enjoy an amble along the River Wenning from Riverside Caravan Park before heading home, refreshed and rejuvenated.
