Terrain: This is a moderate walk with a number of stiles to cross. The woodland footpath can be slippy and there are some steep climbs and descents.

The route: The route begins at Stainforth car park, BD24 9PF. This circular route climbs up a limestone stairway through the woodland above Stainforth Scar, providing views up Ribblesdale. Continuing the route you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the Yorkshire Three Peaks before taking a short detour to Catrigg Force, a hidden gem that lies deep in a wooded gorge.
On your return to Stainforth there are toilets in the car park, and a pub in Stainforth. For more refreshment options, Settle is just 2 miles away.
