The rail to trail walking routes along the Bentham Line offer the perfect opportunity to experience the local scenery and visit quaint villages along the way.



There are 12 self-guided walks covering a combined distance of 68 miles through the Lancashire and Yorkshire countryside. Winding their way along ancient paths, river banks and charming villages, there are routes for experienced and leisure walkers alike.
High Bentham Train Station is fortunately located a short walk from our park and offers easy access to Lancaster or Leeds and numerous villages in between.
The Walks:
Wennington to High Bentham: This is a 3.9 mile linear route from Wennington Train Station, winding along ancient routes and medieval places. The terrain is mostly fields and along the river side so conditions will vary through the season. The route should take around 2 hours 20 minutes.Download the route here
Clapham to High Bentham: ‘From common to cattle mart’. Wind along fields and lanes on this 5 mile walk over the moorland to Main Street. Taking around 2 hours and 30 minutes, this route is described as moderately difficult. Download the route here.
Lancaster to Morecambe: Fancy exploring further a field? The rail to trail routes also allow you to enjoy the train journey to Lancaster and then enjoy a 3.8 mile stroll along surfaced paths and tracks to Morecambe. Once there you can grab a bite to eat whilst exploring this coastal town. Pose with the Eric and Earny statue along the promenade of enjoy afternoon tea at The Midland Hotel to reward yourself for completing this 3.8 mile linear walk. Download the route here.
