Walking
Wenningdale is bordered by the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the Lake District National Park and the Forest of Bowland National Landscape which makes it a perfect base offering fabulous walking country with options to suit all levels of fitness.
From strolling by the river to scaling one or more of the Three Peaks on the doorstep, you’re guaranteed wonderful scenery, flora and fauna!
Visitors have been coming to this area to enjoy walking holidays since Victorian times, experiencing classic hotspots such as the iconic Waterfalls Walk in Ingleton and scrambling up Gordale Scar to the top of the spectacular limestone cliff that is Malham Cove.
Ingleborough, Whernside and Pen-y-Ghent together are known as the Three Peaks, and are tackled in one day as a 25 -mile challenge by hundreds of keen walkers every year. That’s not for the faint-hearted, but ascending any one of them individually is achievable if you have a reasonable degree of fitness.
Bentham itself has some lovely walks close by, ranging from a gentle 2 mile riverside walk to a 10 mile hike up to ‘Big Stone’.
